Nana represents Niki de Saint Phalle’s obsession with creation.

Niki de Saint Phalle, a French-American sculptor, painter, and filmmaker. Widely noted as one of the few female monumental sculptors, Saint Phalle was also known for her social commitment and work. Nana cafe is inspired by Niki de Saint Phalle’s very popular “nana” sculptures. These sculptures are made to embody the female form and be filled with color and curves. The name of the cafe will reflect the joy that the nanas bring to the artist and the viewer. The cafe will serve tea and coffee as well as a selection of specialty pastries. These pastries represent Niki de Saint-Phalle’s obsession with creation and bringing her artistic eye into all of her work. Nana is located in her hometown of Neuilly-sur-Seine, France.

The Menus

The main cafe menu is created to give the viewer a light and fun experience while selecting something to eat. The options are clearly separated by savory, sweet, seasonal, and sides. The specials are featured in blue. The menu and drinks menu has a handmade pattern using the silhouettes of nana’s to give the viewer the whimsical feeling of Niki’s work.

The Journal.

The purpose of the journal is for a visiter to learn a bit more about the Nana Cafe. The journal is filled with photos of both Niki, her art work, and her daughter. The organic and whimsical forms are also leading the reader from page to page. The back of the journal features a photo and a massage to bring new guests into the Nana Cafe.
